Tom Sweeney

Tom Sweeney is an Australian Chair Umpire working on the international tennis tour. He started at the age of 16 when an ITF event was played in his hometown of Benalla, Victoria.

The club was in need of local line umpires and a passion for officiating grew. Tom has now officiated at 47 Grand Slams (19 Australian Open, 8 French Open, 11 Wimbledon, 9 US Open), two Olympics (Rio and Tokyo), London Paralympics, Delhi Commonwealth Games and 26 Davis/Fed Cup ties.

At the Australian Open, Tom has been the Chair Umpire for two singles semi finals, six doubles finals and a line umpire for four singles finals. Tom has been a Chair Umpire for the WTA Tour (Women’s Tennis Association) since 2019.
